World Sparrow Day takes place on March 20 each year. Considering the global fall in sparrow numbers, the goal is to raise public awareness of sparrow protection and conservation. 2010 saw the first celebration of the day.

These tiny birds contribute to increased plant growth and diversification within the ecosystem, creating even greener and healthier surroundings. By eating and excreting seeds, sparrows improve the dispersal of plant seeds, fostering the growth of our surrounding ecosystem.

The day's objective is to raise public awareness of the relevance of sparrows in pest management, pollination, and the ecosystem. On March 10, 2010, the inaugural World Sparrow Day was observed. Since then, it has been observed every year. In an effort to increase public awareness of sparrows, Mohammed Dilawar formed the Nature Forever Society. For his efforts, he was recognized as a conservation hero by TIME Magazine in 2008.

World Sparrow Day 2024 will be observed with the theme "I Love Sparrows." People are encouraged to improve the relationship between humans and the adorable little bird by choosing this theme.

What's the objective of the day?
The ecology suffers from the sparrow population's steady reduction. The purpose of the day is to increase public understanding of the significance of these birds to biodiversity and the environment. Getting educated on the different measures we can implement to guarantee a sharp rise in the sparrow population is the ideal way to spend the day. In order to protect their population, we should also deliberately try to expand conservation initiatives.

The purpose of the event is to celebrate the beauty of common biodiversity, which we frequently take for granted, and to support conservation efforts for the House Sparrow and other common birds.
