PM Modi asks people to share MagnificentNortheast pics, netizens comply

The beauty of seven sisters of the Northeast -  Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura, is taking over the Interweb as people upload gorgeous photographs from the area. 

New Delhi:  If you have not visited Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland or Tripura yet, these pics will make sure you book your tickets STAT. 

It all began when Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked people to share the natural beauty of Northeast India using the hashtag #MagnificentNortheast. He wrote on his Twitter handle, "Do you have pictures of your own Northeast visits or glimpses of the spectacular natural beauty of the region?" 

PM Modi is on a two-day visit to three Northeastern states Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura.

Not backing down from an Internet challenge, netizens complied and soon, everyone's Twitter feeds were being blessed with the gorgeous, untouched natural beauty of the region. From the Umngot lake of Meghalaya, Dirang Monastery in Arunachal Pradesh, double root bridge of Cherrapunji to road trips in Tawang and the timeless Brahmaputra river, here are our picks of the most beautiful photographs shared on the Internet to prove that Northeast is truly magnificent.
