NAMO Drone Didi Scheme is a government initiative that aims to empower women involved in the agriculture sector. It provides specialized training to women in drone operations. It was first launched in November 2023, focusing on promoting employment avenues for women. Let’s learn more about this scheme. 

Eligibility

This scheme is open to women aged 18 to 37. To receive the benefits of this scheme, you must meet certain other requirements as well. The scheme aims to train 15 thousand women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) nationwide over the next four years. Upon successful completion of the training, candidates will also receive a drone. 

Required documents

To apply for this scheme, you will need to provide some essential documents. These include the Aadhar card, proof of residence, PAN card, email ID, phone number, Self Help Group ID card, and a passport-sized photograph. 

 

Training period

During the 15-day programme, women will receive training in various aspects of drone operation, including flying drones, data analysis, and drone maintenance. Furthermore, they will also be trained in various other farming activities like crop monitoring, pesticide and fertilizer spraying, and seed sowing using drones. With drone technology in the fields, this scheme will offer new job prospects for rural women including roles as drone pilots, mechanics, and spare part dealers.
