Siddharthnagar: Troubled by the intrusion of wild animals into the farms, Abhishek Chaudhary, a resident of Siddharthnagar, UP, developed a system called ‘Crop Security Alarm’ to alert the farmers when animals enter the fields. He had seen farmers facing these problems since childhood and felt inspired to find a solution to it.

Crop protection equipment

Abhishek Chaudhary shares that the farms are located near the forest, that attract wild animals frequently. The prevalent method of defence involved an expensive shock machine, common in rural areas but reliant on electricity. Installing components like solar panels increased the cost to Rs 30 to 40 thousand, a hefty sum for an average farmer.

Designing the device

Abhishek Chaudhary got the idea of making an affordable crop protection solution when he pondered on how to prevent wild animals from causing damage to the fields. He installed wires around the fields using a rope, connected to the device with a spring mechanism. When an animal tries to enter the field, the rope tightens, and emits a dog barking sound. This effectively scares the animals away, ensuring the crop safety.

Making the device more effective

Abhishek Chaudhary is experimenting with incorporating the sound of a lion into his device. He shares that for now the necessary resources are not yet available to him. Abhishek created this innovative device just a few months ago. It utilizes light and sound to instil fear in animals, prompting them to move away from the fields without any harm.

Family support

When Abhishek expressed his ideas about developing such an alarm, he faced criticism from people around him. Despite facing discouragement, he maintained confidence in his idea. The unwavering support from his family, both emotionally and financially, played a crucial role in his success. He also had the opportunity of showcasing his device at AKTU event.
