Jaipur: This is the success story of a young girl from Rajasthan, who despite failing in class 12, went on to win accolades at international level. Harshita Rewadia is an accomplished opera singer with a unique ability to shatter glass with her high-pitched singing. Remarkably, she is the only singer in the country who has achieved this impressive feat. 

Background

Internationally, breaking glass with high-pitched soprano singing is immensely popular. Today, with her incredible achievement, Harshita is popularizing this skill in her hometown in Rajasthan. She was always inclined towards music and singing more than her school studies. While pursuing science in class 12, she faced failure in the biology exam. Her family was extremely worried about her future, but Harshita was resolute in aiming for dreams beyond academic degrees. Fuelled by her deep interest in music, Harshita decided to make a career in opera singing. 

The beginnings

After enrolling in college, Harshita embarked on her musical career. She took singing lessons and gained the confidence to perform in front of a large crowd. During the same time, she discovered opera singing. With sheer dedication to her craft, she practiced tirelessly and honed her skills. Eventually, her efforts bore fruit as she garnered numerous accolades including recognition at prestigious events such as the Paris Underground Music Festival and the Mumbai International Film Festival. 

Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival Award

Harshita Rewadia has also been honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival Award for her debut song; she is the first woman from Rajasthan to achieve this remarkable title. Notably, she was also seen on the reality TV show ‘India’s Got Talent’ where she gave an unforgettable performance while shattering a glass with her voice. 

Originally, Harshita’s name was Hrishita but her fans had difficulty in pronouncing her name. Later, she changed her name to Harshita, a name she is now recognized by. Today, her achievements are a source of pride not only for her family but also for the entire nation.
