New Delhi: Vistara Airlines is facing severe flak from citizens across the country, after posting a picture with Army Major General (retd) GD Bakshi and subsequently deleting it.

Immediately after a picture of Vistara staff members with Major Gen G D Bakshi captioned “a decorated Kargil war hero. Thank you, Sir, for your service to the nation” surfaced on social media, several people called out the airline and posted some controversial remarks of General Bakshi.

Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, BJP spokesperson for Delhi, took to Twitter immediately condemning Vistara’s actions of deleting a tweet quoting they wanted to avoid being “disrespectful or hurtful to anyone”. He expressed his disappointment with Vistara and said that the tweet had been deleted due to Anti Army Gang pressure. He further added that he would not fly Vistara until they post the picture again and apologise.

Major GD Bakshi is a decorated war hero and has been awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal for his role in commanding a battalion in the Kargil war. He has now recently been participating in television debates and has issued statements on issues concerning national security and is a defence analyst.

Twitterati has slammed the airline following the deleted tweet and has demanded an apology.
