Bengaluru: Remember Sister Lucy Kalapura? Well, she was one of the five nuns who threw her weight behind the nun who dared to accuse Bishop Franco Mulakkal of rape.

And now, in what comes as not just threat and intimidation but vindictiveness as well, it is being said that she is being starved at the convent, with an agenda to force her out of the church.

However, a dogged and persevering Sister Lucy has asserted that she will continue to stay put at Franciscan Clarist Congregation’s convent even if she were starved to death.
In this regard, she said, “I have filed three complaints against the convent authorities but police failed to take action in any of them. It seems the police are scared to take action against authorities who trouble me.”

It is interesting to note that recently, she had come out with an autobiography in which she recalls sexual abuses and aberrations prevalent in convents.
She was also pulled up for voicing her concerns against rape-accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal. She also narrates her life experiences and talks about sexual abuse and harassment of nuns in the book titled ‘Karthaavinte Naamathil (In The Name of The Lord)’

What’s shocking is that the lady in question was a silent witness to innumerable incidents in which nuns have openly tried to manifest their sexual urges.

It is also revealed several nuns have ‘unholy’ relationships with priests who are in authority and added that the priests encourage such relationships.

The accused Franco Mulakkal, who happens to be a Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jalandhar, faces charges of raping a 44-year-old nun at a guest house in Kuravilangad in May 2014 and subsequent sexual exploitations afterwards. The nun had registered a complaint in June 2018 and has also claimed that despite her complaints, the church took no action on the bishop.
