Effective Friday, March 15, commercial services will be introduced on three recently opened sections of the Kolkata Metro. Kolkata's new underwater metro will open to the public later this week, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's inauguration on March 6, according to a statement issued by Metro Rail.

The much-awaited Howrah Maidan to Esplanade segment of the Green Line, the Kavi Subhash to Hemanta Mukhopadhyay length of the Orange Line, and the Taratala to Majerhat piece of the Purple Line are among the recently opened sections of Kolkata Metro.
