Bengaluru: With Lok Sabha elections round the corner, the Congress released a document (a diary), which allegedly has the potential to corner the Karnataka BJP president BS Yeddyurappa.

Training his guns at Randeep Surjewala, the chief spokesperson of the Congress, BJP’s Suresh Kumar said he had used the diaries to attack the reputation of BS Yeddyurappa.

This being election season, he further alleged, that the Congress was trying its best to besmirch the image of the BJP.

Suresh Kumar further said that he and his party were mulling legal options against Randeep Surjewala and even called for his arrest.

"

The BJP is also trying to meet the Election Commission to register a complaint in this regard and seek its direction in curbing the Congress propaganda to bring ill-repute to the BJP.

Suresh Kumar was of the opinion that AICC president Rahul Gandhi should also apologise to the nation for relying on a document that did not have any legal scrutiny.

Last week, Randeep Surjewala, released a document claiming that BS Yeddyurappa had given an amount in excess of Rs 1000 crore to senior leaders like LK Advani. The diary allegedly had a note that BS Yeddyurappa had married another BJP MLA Shobha Karandlaje.

Using this diary as a legal proof, many Congress leaders are prevailing upon the Prime Minister to hand over the matter to the newly-appointed Lokpal Pinaki Chandra Ghose.

On March 23, a concerned authority of the relevant department said that prime facie, the documents submitted lacked genuineness.

It is now coming to light that DK Shivakumar, with whom the diary was made available did not approach the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) or the Lokayukta because he was not confident about the veracity of these diaries.
