Hyderabad: The city of Hyderabad wore a festive look as it was ready to celebrate Telangana Formation Day on Sunday (June 2).

To mark the Telangana formation day as a celebration of the festival, several well-known government buildings including Secretariat and Telangana Assembly have been decorated with flower garlands and colourful lights.

According to reports, the national flag will be hoisted in every district of the state while Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) will be participating in the celebrations at Public Gardens in Hyderabad.

Telangana's Director General of Police (DGP) Mahender Reddy and chief secretary SK Joshi would also participate in the Telangana Formation Day celebrations.

Extending greetings on the occasion, Telangana chief minister's office posted a tweet, which said, "Telangana enters into the sixth year completing five years of unprecedented progress! Hon'ble CM Sri K Chandrashekar Rao expressed happiness that the state has become a role model for the rest of the country and extended greetings on the momentous occasion."

 

June 2, 2019, marks the fifth Telangana State Formation Day, marking the official formation of India's youngest state in 2014.

Earlier, in 2014, the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on February 18, 2014, and in the Rajya Sabha on February 20, 2014. The law was attested by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee on March 1, 2014, and published in the Official Gazette on March 1, 2014. June 2, 2014, is the 'appointed day' according to the act. The new state was created on June 2, 2014.
