Thiruvaiyaru: 23-year-old Prashant was found murdered in Tamil Nadu’s Thiruvaiyaru and his family members now allege that this was a conspiracy.

Prashant’s sister said that it was only a week ago that Prashant and his 17-year-old bride had eloped. Prashant’s family had not opposed the relationship. However, the girl’s family opposed it as the couple belonged to two different castes, alleged the deceased’s sister.

Prashant and his 17-year-old bride had been in a relationship for two years before deciding to tie the knot. They then went out of town.

The girl’s family panicked as she was nowhere to be found. Once they found out about her whereabouts, they reportedly decided to trick the couple by saying that they would have a grand wedding for them.

The girl, who believed her parents, managed to convince her husband who was sceptical initially. However, the families united at a temple where they took Prashant in a car separately.

They took him to a field in Samayapuram where his hands were tied and mouth gagged. They then slit his throat and left a bleeding Prashant out in the field.

His body was found much later and his family members are now demanding that strict action be taken against the perpetrators.

This is not the first time that such a case has come to the fore. In Telangana, a 23-year-old Dalit man was murdered right before his pregnant wife’s eyes.

Amrutha, who belongs to an upper-caste community had gone against her father’s wishes and married Pranay who was a Dalit from Miryalaguda in Nalgonda district.

Unable to accept a Dalit man as his son-in-law, Amrutha’s father allegedly hired killers to murder Pranay. A hired killer hacked Pranay to death with a machete on September 14 and was paid Rs 1 crore for the job.

Four months after her husband’s death, Amrutha gave birth to a boy and she now resides with her late husband’s family.
