New Delhi: The Supreme court has now said that the Central Bureau of Investigation can arrest IPS officer Rajeev Kumar for failing to report to duty at the MHA on Thursday.

The Supreme Court has allowed 7 days for Kumar to appeal.

Following violence in Kolkata, the Election Commission of India had relieved Kumar from his ADG post in Bengal.

While Kumar was supposed to report to work at 10 AM on Thursday, sources say that he reached the national capital at 12:30 PM and did not join the ministry or provide the necessary information for the delay.

The Supreme Court has allowed 7 days for Kumar to appeal.

Rajeev Kumar is also being interrogated for his role in the Saradha chit fund scam and the Apex court has requested for more information before allowing custodial interrogation by the CBI.
