A passenger was shocked when he found fungus in the yoghurt served to him on the Vande Bharat Express from Dehradun to Delhi’s Anand Vihar. Harshad Topkar, an X user shared his experience and the images of the fungus-infested yoghurt online. He tagged the Ministry of Railways, Northern Railway, and Union Minister of Railways of India, Ashwini Vaishnaw in his post.

Sharing the images of the fungus, he wrote, "Travelling on Vande Bharat from Dehradun to Anand Vihar in the executive class today. Found greenish layer most probably fungus in the yoghurt served. This is not expected from the Vande Bharat service."

The post soon started getting attention from users online and Rail Seva, an X account dedicated to providing support to Rail users. Northern Railway also responded to the post and tagged the Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) requesting to look into the matter.

Harshad Topkar soon got a response from IRCTC on the post apologising for the unpleasant experience. IRCTC wrote, "Sir, our sincere apology for the inconvenience caused. The matter was immediately attended by the onboard supervisor who replaced the curd immediately. Further, the curd pack was within the expiry date. The issue is being raised with the manufacturer," below Harshad’s post.

This is not the first time the Vande Bharat services have been called out. A similar incident happened last month where a traveller found a dead cockroach in their meal. The train was going from Rani Kamlapati to Jabalpur Junction and the food was served by the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).
