State Bank of India Foundation, the CSR branch of the State Bank Group, is inviting applications for the 12th session of the SBI Youth for India Fellowship Programme. This is a 13-month fellowship which is open to people between the ages of 21 and 32 years. It is a golden opportunity for the graduates and young professionals to grow their careers while working alongside rural communities and 12 reputable NGOs nationwide. The fellowship aims to foster a societal change. 

Who can apply?

Indian residents are eligible for the fellowship programme. Moreover, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), citizens of Bhutan, and citizens of Nepal can also apply for the fellowship. Importantly, the candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to bringing a change in the rural communities. 

The purpose

The purpose of the SBI Youth for India programme is to close the gap between rural and urban communities. It gives urban youth the opportunity to contribute to the development of rural areas. It aims to find more skilled of professionals from various educational backgrounds for increasing the workforce of NGOs. Sanjay Prakash, Managing Director and CEO of SBI Foundation, emphasizes the fellowship’s dedication to empowering the youth to bring significant changes in the society. 

Areas of focus

The fellows work across 12 areas including health, rural livelihoods, food safety, environmental protection, education, water management, technology, women empowerment, self-governance, social entrepreneurship, traditional crafts, and alternative energy. During the fellowship programme, fellows focus on one of these areas according to their interests.
