New Delhi:  A detailed plan was released by the Delhi Metro Rail Corp (DMRC) on tuesday containing revised information about the extension of the Blue line. This extension named the Metro Phase 3 corridor stretches between Noida electronic city and Mohan Nagar.

According to the report the estimated amount for the project is 1866 crore and six stations have been planned for the line connecting Noida and Ghaziabad.

The detailed report also includes a phase 4 of the project which will extend the blue line from Ghaziabad towards Vasundhara sector 2 and the work will commence after the completion of phase 3.

Kanchan Verma, vice-chairperson of Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), said "DMRC has submitted a revised DPR for metro phase 3 line and as per the DPR, it will have six stations - Vaibhav Kand, DPS Indirapuram, Shakti Khand, Vasundhara Sector 5, Vasundhara Sector 2 and Mohan Nagar". He added "the cost of the corridor has been pegged at 1866 crore and the length of the corridor will be 5.91km from Noida Electronic City (Sector 62)".

In February 2018, a detailed project report (DPR) had been submitted to DMRC for the extensions in Ghaziabad from Noida electronic city to Sahibabad. After consideration, it was decided that the GDA decided to extend the line to Mohan Nagar.

In the old DPR, the length of the corridor was 5.11km and the estimated cost was 1920 crores for the four stations. The revised DPR shows a reduced cost of 60 crore and is extended till Mohan Nagar.

The DMRC has also submitted another project for the Vaishali to Vasundhara Sector 2 line and the cost has been estimated to be 1438 crore with three stations - Prahladgarhi, Vasundhara Sector 14 and Sahibabad. Verma said "But we will be taking up work on the Noida Electronic City-Mohan Nagar stretch first because the NCRTC will be taking up work close to the phase 4 metro corridor and we do not want the work to coincide, as that will create problems for the commuters".

Under the phase 3 project, the GDA has also pressed DMRC to add a provision for feeder busses for the Noida electronic city and Mohan Nagar extension. The DMRC has reminded GDA that feeder busses are provided only within Delhi. The GDA is however pushing for funding like the Dilshad Garden-New bus stand Metro corridor.
