Bengaluru: The contributions for the construction of Ram Mandir have hit the Rs 600 mark.

The drive for the construction began on January 14 and will go on for the next 20 days.

It is expected that the drive will gather more steam in the remaining days.

The construction of the temple has united the entire nation, with people from other religions also pitching in with their contributions.

Ronald Colaco, a representative of the Christian community in Karnataka said the community had always been responding to the cause of the nation.

From the President of India to many others, they have contributed their might.

It is interesting to note that transgenders too have donated lakhs of rupees for the cause.

It was in November 2019 that the Supreme Court of India decreed that the land under litigation belongs to Hindus. The court also asked the government to form a committee to oversee the construction.

It was in August last year, on the first occasion of abrogation of articles 370 and 35A that Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the   bhumi pujan at Ayodhya.

Presently, the construction is in progress and will take an estimated time period of 36-40 months. The total costs come up to Rs 1100 crore.

The deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya has also contributed his salary of 30 months towards the construction of the temple.

Apart from his contribution, he also gave a cheque for Rs 1.01 crore for the same, which happens to be the contribution of PWD employees.

He had said, “I am happy that Ram Mandir is finally being constructed. The cooperation of the entire nation is being sought for the construction of Ram temple as five generations have sacrificed their lives in the temple movement. In such a situation, this cooperation is being taken from everyone”.
