New Delhi: After the Supreme Court granted BJYM leader Priyanka Sharma unconditional bail on Tuesday with the clause that she apologises to Mamata, Priyanka on Wednesday said, “I will not apologise for Mamata Banerjee’s meme as I haven’t done anything wrong. I will fight this case.”

A vacation bench consisting Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice Sanjiv Khanna said, “Subject to Priyanka Sharma tendering an apology in writing for putting up an objectionable picture on Facebook account, she shall be immediately released. At the time of release, she shall tender an apology in writing.

Sharma also said that she wasn’t released for 18 hours after she was granted bail and was also not allowed to meet her advocate and family. She said they made her sign the apology.

Priyanka was accused of sharing a photo of Priyanka Chopra from the MET Gala but with Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s face superimposed over it.

Following Priyanka’s arrest her mother had alleged that her daughter’s arrest was politically motivated and her lawyer Neeraj Kishan Kaul had said that she was being made to apologise only because she was a part of the BJP.

Priyanka Sharma may face action for contempt of court if she is unable to prove her case.
