Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his pictures of taking an elephant and Jeep safari on X (Twitter) this morning. He becomes the Prime Minister to stay at the Assam Police Guest House at Kahra, Kaziranga. He visited the Kaziranga National Park which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Kaziranga is known for its flora and fauna and has two-thirds of the world’s great one-horned rhinoceros. 

PM Modi explored the area with park director Sonali Ghosh and forest officials. He tweeted, “This morning I was at the Kaziranga National Park in Assam. Nestled amidst lush greenery, this UNESCO World Heritage site is blessed with diverse flora and fauna including the majestic one-horned rhinoceros.” 

 

 

He is visiting the state for two days, where he will be starting off many development projects in Assam worth Rs. 18,000 crore. The central government and the government of Assam are going to work together on many projects including the Barauni to Guwahati pipeline project with a budget of Rs. 3,992 crore. 

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on X, “The ₹3992cr Barauni-Guwahati Pipeline, is a historic feat in enhancing India’s energy security as it connects NE to the National Gas Grid. Along with this, Hon’ble PM will also commission two other projects to augment India’s pumping & refining capacity.”

He talked about PM laying the foundations for the development of domestic oil refining capacity in different locations all over Assam. The project is worth Rs. 1,555 crore and will be a great boost to Assam’s economy. The PM will also inaugurate the two railway line doubling projects with a budget of Rs. 1,328 crore. It will be from Dhupdhara- Chhaygaon and New Bongaigaon-Sorbhog.
