Ferozepur: A Pakistan spy has been arrested by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday from border outpost Mabbo in Punjab’s Ferozepur.

The 21-year-old spy has been identified as Mohammad Shahrukh — a resident of Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh.

He was arrested while trying to click photos near the border by wrapping himself in a bedsheet.

After his arrest, Shahrukh denied to be a spy and said that he reached the border deliberately.

However, the BSP personnel recovered a Pakistan mobile phone and as many as eight sim cards. It was also found that Shahrukh was part of six Pakistan-based WhatsApp groups and was giving information through them.

"He was found doing suspicious activity near to the border. When we ask him the reason for roaming at the highly sensitive location he did not give us any proper reply. later local police were called and he was handed over to them,” a BSF official said.

Meanwhile, BSF personnel deployed near the Attari border have been put on high alert after Pakistan try to attack India's military establishments. They have also been asked to thoroughly check and verify any person found doing a suspicious activity around the international border.

Apart from BSF, local police like Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan police have been asked to patrol the area and keep an eye on any activity near the defence establishments.

All the airports in the country are on high alert after the tension between Pakistan and India escalated on February 27.
