Kannur: Beena Sajan, the wife of deceased Sajan Parayil, an NRI entrepreneur who committed suicide, had submitted a petition to Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, requesting a CBI probe into her husband’s suicide.

In the petition she has stated that she has no faith in the ongoing investigation conducted by state police. She also alleged that the current investigation is headed in the wrong direction and is aimed at saving real culprits.

Sajan's wife also stated that the investigating officer had leaked false information regarding the death of her husband, by alleging that she had an extramarital affair with Sajan's driver, and this forced Sajan to commit suicide. Beena also asked the Kerala chief minister to identify and punish those who had spread false news in this regard.

She added that her husband was under a lot of mental pressure due to the non-issue of a licence to run a convention centre built by him.

The CPM-led Anthoor municipality in Kannur, Kerala refused to grant a permit (license) to run the convention centre. Dejected over this, Sajan Parayil, an NRI entrepreneur who had invested in the construction, allegedly committed suicide on June 18.

Sajan worked in Nigeria for 15 years before he quit his job and returned to India. Three years ago, he started the construction of Partha convention centre in Kannur, Kerala.

His family told media that right from the beginning of construction, there were many hurdles. They also said that the municipality had, once, asked Sajan to destroy the building.
