A Delhi court has refused to grant bail to PMLA accused DK Shivakumar. The court took more than 90 minutes to pronounce the verdict.
Bengaluru: A Delhi court has refused to grant bail to PMLA accused DK Shivakumar.
Investigating officer from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) Sourabh Mehta, DK Suresh, DK Shivakumar’s brother, KM Natraj, counsel for ED, Abhishek Singhvi, counsel for DK Shivakumar and admirers of DK Shivakumar were present in the court.
Shivakumar had been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. He has been in Tihar jail since September 17. But before he headed to Tihar jail, he was taken to RML hospital as he is suffering from high tension and diabetes. He was kept at the hospital for a day after which, the doctors declared him to fit enough.
He was arrested on September 3 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The issue related to an amount of Rs 8.5 cr being found at his residence in New Delhi two years ago.
When the ED had issued summons to him in relation to the case for the first time, he had approached the Karnataka high court seeking its quashing. But the high court refused to quash it, paving way for the ED to reissue summons to him. Though he appeared before the ED, he was arrested three days later, as the ED felt a custodial interrogation was necessary.
The verdict was supposed to be pronounced at 3: 30 pm, but the judge took Ajay Kumar took more than one and a half hours to pronounce it.
