India is celebrated as the largest democracy in the world for a reason. Voters here may go to great length to ensure they exercise their franchise. We present the stories of four amazing citizens who did our democracy proud this election season.

Here are the four citizens

1. Family from Satna

A family from Madhya Pradesh’s Satna decided to first cast their votes and then perform the last rituals of an elderly family member who passed away on Monday.

The bereaved family chose to first cast their votes at polling booth number 181 in Tikuria Tola. The deceased, Savitri Gupta was the mother of Ashok Gupta — ex-councillor of ward number 44.

2. Voting after cremation

Shivendra Pratap Singh’s story is also extremely heart-wrenching. He had to cremate his deceased father on Monday. Keeping his grief aside, he directly went to the polling booth after performing his last rituals to cast his votes. The incident happened in Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh.
