Microsoft-backed OpenAI recently hired Pragya Misra as its first employee in India. According to IANS sources, the 39-year-old has been hired to manage public affairs and partnerships in India. 

As per the Bloomberg report, “The hiring highlights the generative-AI company’s efforts to push for favorable rules as governments around the world consider how to regulate the rapidly developing technology.”

Before this, she worked with Truecaller and served as the Director of Public Affairs where her role included collaborating closely with investors, government ministries, key stakeholders, and media agencies. 

Misra has a plethora of experience when it comes to the tech and digital space as she has also worked with several Meta Platforms for three years. She worked with WhatsApp and led its campaign against misinformation in 2018. Misra has also been associated with Ernst and Young and the Royal Danish Embassy in New Delhi. 

Pragya did her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the International Management Institute in 2012. She graduated from Delhi University with a degree in commerce and also has a diploma from the London School of Economics and Political Science in Bargaining and Negotiations.

Besides her professional endeavours, she is also interested in social media and has a great podcast on her Instagram called 'Pragyaan' with 35K followers. She invites various people from different walks of life on her podcast to get an insight into their lives and share interesting details and experiences. 

Misra is also a skilled golfer and has represented India at numerous tournaments from 1998 to 2007. Additionally, she is a heartfulness meditation trainer.
