The wedding of Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant Ambani is currently the hot topic of discussion, as the wedding is reported to welcome international businessmen and celebrities like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Ivanka Trump, and Rihanna. Remarkably, this star-studded wedding event will also be attended by Garima Saini, a distinguished blue-pottery artist from Rajasthan. At the pre-wedding celebrations, she will demonstrate a live presentation of the making of blue pottery.

What is Blue Pottery?

Blue Pottery is the traditional art form from the city of Jaipur, Rajasthan. The blue gaze used on pottery traces its origins to Persian ceramic style and the techniques developed by Mongol artisans. Historical facts suggest that this art form travelled to India in the 14th century, gaining significant popularity among the local artisans. The materials used for making blue pottery include quartz stone powder, powdered glass, borax, gum, multani mitti (Fuller’s Earth). Over the years, various efforts have been made to revive this form of pottery as with the advancing world, it is somewhere losing its traditional significance.
