Kozhikode: A case has been filed against UDF candidate MK Raghavan by the LDF alleging that Raghavan had not disclosed certain details in his nomination papers. LDF alleged that Raghavan did not disclose his presidentship of Agro Cooperative in Kannur. The LDF also allege that Raghavan had not declared details of Agro Cooperative’s revenue recovery.

On February 12, the Kerala government directed the police to register a case against 13 people including Congress leader Raghavan over financial irregularities in Agro Cooperative in Kannur. A case was registered against them after the society was found to have a liability of Rs 77 crore during his tenure. Raghavan served as president of Agro Cooperative from 2002 to 2013.

Information regarding the organisation’s financial liability came to the fore after former managing director Baiju Radhakrishnan raised concerns regarding the issue. Raghavan had told media that this case was politically motivated in the background of the Lok Sabha election.

Meanwhile, Raghavan has allegedly negotiated a bribe. In a viral video telecast by a news channel, two people are seen promising to donate Rs 5 crore to the election fund if land dealings were completed smoothly by him for them.

Raghavan also revealed that around Rs 20 crore was required for the election campaign and his party may provide Rs 2 crore. The remaining amount has been raised by him, he stated in the video. Raghavan asks the private party to hand over the money at the office in New Delhi and that the deal would be in cash only.
