Lathi charge was done by Hyderabad Police after a crowd gathered and created chaos for free Haleem offered by a restaurant. This happened on March 12 (Tuesday) after a massive mob started forming in the Malakpet area when the restaurant 'Aazebo' started giving free Haleem on the first day of Ramzaan. Haleem is a popular stew dish from Hyderabad made with meat, lentils, veggies, and spices.

Many people from the area posted several videos of the incident on X (Twitter). One user writes, "#Hyderabad — This is what happened when a hotel in Musarambagh announced free Haleem on 12th March, first day of #Ramzan2024. The hotel owner should have be prepared for the influx. Their PR team made many local food bloggers to advertise free Haleem and it ended this way."

After the public got the news about free Haleem in the Malakpet area, a large number of people started gathering there causing traffic jams and area blocks. That's when the restaurant staff called the police. The police arrived shortly and tried to disperse the crowd and when nothing helped police resorted to lathi charge to control the mob.

The videos of the incident show the large mob blocking the whole area and creating mayhem. The police can be seen trying to scatter the crowd. Many people are furious with the restaurant management for creating a marketing strategy without proper planning. According to the police, a case will be registered against the restaurant for not informing the police in advance and obstructing the traffic.
