Kochi: The kin of SFI district committee member Abhimanyu, who was killed at Ernakulam's Maharaja's College on July 2, 2018, has alleged that there has been a serious lapse in investigation.

In a Facebook post of electricity minister MM Mani on the movie Nan Petta Makan, which depicts the life of Abhimanyu, the victim’s uncle had lashed out in anger in the comment section, stating that there was a severe lapse in the probe of the case.

He stated that the murderers had not been arrested yet and that the investigating officers were not answering calls of Abhimanyu's kin. He added that it has been one year since the death of Abhimanyu and the family does not know the status of the investigation. He requested the minister to reply to his comment.

Abhimanyu was a second-year degree student in Maharaja's college.

On July 2, 2018, 20-year-old Abhimanyu was attacked and killed at the college hostel around 12:30 am.

Two others, Arjun and Vineet, were also injured in the attack. Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and Campus Front activists allegedly attacked and killed the Students Federation of India (SFI) leader.

Abhimanyu's father Manoharan also told media that he will end his life, if the police won't arrest all the accused in the Abhimanyu murder case.

According to the Special Investigation Team, they have arrested 20 accused in the case and are yet to arrest six more. The six, who are reportedly absconding, are the main accused in the case.
