Shopian: A terrorist was killed in gunfire in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district. The body of the terrorist has been recovered along with arms and ammunition, and the official said adding the identity and group affiliation of the slain ultra is being ascertained. The encounter is underway in Narwani area of the district.

Mobile internet has been suspended in Shopian and Pulwama districts as a precautionary measure.

A team of the Army's 44 Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir's Special Operation Group conducted the operation. The operation was launched as the police department received special inputs about the presence of terrorists in the district.

Earlier on June 11, two terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Shopian district.

The two were affiliated with Ansar Gazwatul Hind (AGH) militant outfit, which is inspired by the ideology of Islamic State (IS). Recently forces also killed AGH chief Zakir Musa.

The slain terrorists have been identified as Sayar Ahmad Bhat, son of Sanauallah of Manchowa Kulgam, and Shakir Ahmad Wagay of Awneera Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir.
