New Delhi: A Delhi court today (September 5)  has directed to send former finance minister P Chidambaram, accused in the INX Media corruption case, to Tihar jail.

Special Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar in his verdict ordered to send Chidambaram to 14-days judicial custody till September 19. The court allowed him to carry his medicines to the prison.

73-year-old Chidambaram was produced before a Delhi court on Thursday after the expiry of his 2-day CBI custody in the INX Media case.

Chidambaram was arrested on August 21 and his 15-day CBI custody, ordered by the special court in five spells ended today.

As Chidambaram enjoys Z-level security, he has been asked to be kept in a separate cell. There will be adequate security for Chidambaram in jail, said Solicitor General Tushar Mehta.

Meanwhile the court has issued notice to ED with regard to Chidambaram's plea seeking his surrender in the money laundering case.

Chidambaram, Karti have been granted bail in Aircel Maxis cases

Hours later, another special court granted him and his son Karti anticipatory bail in the Aircel Maxis case.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta has been arguing for the CBI while senior advocate Kapil Sibal has been fighting for Chidambaram.

When CBI stated that Chidambaram be sent to judicial custody as he is a powerful man, Sibal opposed it and said that there was no allegation of Chidambaram influencing or affecting the investigation.
