New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram has been accused of destroying evidence of meeting Indrani Mukerjea, who has turned approver in the INX media case by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). While arguing for CBI before the Delhi high court, Tushar Mehta, solicitor general, said the visitor's log for the day when Chidambaram met Indrani Mukerjea is missing.

He added, on the investigation, it appeared that visitor's register had been destroyed. Chidambaram is facing investigation by the CBI in the INX media case where he is accused of misusing his position as India's finance minister to benefit INX media, where Mukerjea had a major interest.

Chidambaram has been in jail since August 21 when CBI arrested him from his house in Delhi in a late night drama. On the same day, the Delhi high court refused to grant Chidambaram interim relief from arrest in the INX Media case. At present, he is lodged in the Tihar Jail in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, Chidambaram's lawyer told on behalf of him, that he has no recollection of an INX media delegation calling on him and that he had never met Indrani Mukerjea at any place.
