City Index released a study for International Women’s Day 2024 revealing the number of female billionaires in every country. India ranked 5th in the world with a total of 15 female billionaires. The US had the highest number of female billionaires, with 97 women making up 80% of the female billionaires worldwide. China ranked 2nd with 42 billionaires, and Germany ranked 3rd with 22 billionaire women. 

India consists of 15 female billionaires with Savitri Jindal topping the list. On this International Women’s Day let’s take a look at the top 10 female billionaires in India.

1. Savitri Jindal 

Top of the list we have Savitri Jindal. She has a net worth of $29.1 billion and is the only female billionaire in India in 2024 amongst India’s top 10 richest people. 

2. Rohiqa Cyrus Mistry

Rohiqa’s net worth is around $8.7 billion after inheriting her late husband, Cyrus Mistry's shares in Tata Sons. She is the daughter-in-law of late construction mogul, Pallonji Mistry.

3. Rekha Jhunjhunwala 

After Rakesh Jhunjhunwala died in 2022, his wife Rekha Jhunjhunwala inherited his wealth and took his role in the company. She has a net worth of $8 billion. 

4. Vinod Gupta 

She took the place after her husband’s death and runs Havells India along with her son. She has a net worth of $4.2 billion. Havells is operating in more than 50 countries and has 14 product manufacturing facilities. 

5. Smita Crishna-Godrej

She holds a 20% stake in the family’s Godrej empire. Smita Chrishna has a net worth of  $3.3 billion. Godrej Groupe is a 126-year-old business with a revenue of $5.2 billion. 

6. Leena Gandhi Tewari

Leena is the chairperson at her father’s global pharmaceutical and biotech company, USV. She has a net worth of $3.2 billion. Leena has also written a biography of her grandfather, Vithal Balkrishna Gandhi called Beyond Pipes and Dreams. 

7. Falguni Nayar

India’s one of the self-made billionaires, Falguni is the founder and CEO of Nykka, a beauty and lifestyle online store. Falguni Nayar started as an investment banker and now has a net worth of $3 billion.

8. Anu Aga

Anu Aga took over Thermax, an engineering company after her husband’s death in 1996. She has a net worth of $2.8 billion. In 2004, she left her position for her daughter Meher Pudumjee to take over. She re-entered the billionaire list in 2022. 

9. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw

She is the founder of the biopharmaceuticals company Biocon and has the largest insulin-producing factory in Asia. Kiran has a net worth of $2.5 billion. She founded her company in her garage in 1978 and since then has taken the company to new heights. 

10.  Radha Vembu

Radha Vembu co-founded Zoho in 1996 and has been its Zoho mail’s Product Manager since 2007. She has a net worth of $2.1 billion. Vembu is also involved in the production of 45 products by Zoho Corporation.
