Army personnel on Wednesday (September 18) arrested Gurdaspur native Vipan Singh for allegedly providing photographs of the cantonment area to a Pakistani man
Punjab: Army officials nabbed a Gurdaspur native for allegedly providing photographs of the cantonment area to a Pakistani man. The accused is identified as Vipan Singh. The Army personnel arrested Singh on Wednesday (September 18).
According to reports, military intelligence officers are still questioning Singh. It is also reported that the suspect was allegedly offered Rs 10 lakh for providing the photographs. Sources say Singh also had sent the under-construction Kartarpur corridor photographs to the same person.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is building the corridor from the Indian border to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartapur, while the other part from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur up to the border is being built by India.
The Kartarpur corridor will connect Darbar Sahib -- the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev in Pakistan's Kartarpur -- with the Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Punjab's Gurdaspur district and facilitate visa-free movement of Indian pilgrims, who will have to just obtain a permit to visit Kartarpur Sahib.
