New Delhi: Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has reached the capital this morning to appear before NIA in terror funding case. The leader was earlier served with two notices by the agency to show up but had not complied on security grounds over the hearing outside Kashmir Valley. However, on Sunday he decided to come to Delhi after assurance from the agency.

It was revealed through a spokesperson of Hurriyat group that Mirwaiz will appear for the hearing along with Hurriyat executive members, Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone and Masroor Ansari.

"It is unfortunate that they are insisting on the investigation in Delhi. It has been decided in the Hurriyat executive meeting held today (Sunday) that the executive members will accompany Mirwaiz to New Delhi," the spokesman informed.

In February, the NIA carried out raids in seven locations in Srinagar in connection with the terror funding case. JKLK chairman Yasin Malik, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shabbir Shah, Mohammad Ashraf Khan, Zaffar Akbar Bhat, Masarat Alam and Naseem Geelani, son of Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani were raided.

Letterheads of different terrorist organisations and document relating to visa for admission in Pakistani educational institutions were found. A high-tech internet communication set up was also recovered from the residence of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq," the NIA said in a statement.

The investigation is set to happen in Delhi on April 18 at the NIA office.

Mirwaiz is likely to be questioned regarding a document found during the search, claiming that Rs 5,000 were allegedly given to an operative from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Recently, the centre on a major crackdown on terror funding has banned political organisations like Jamaat-e-Islami (J&K) and Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF).
