New Delhi: Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj passed away on Tuesday (August 6) due to a heart attack. She was 67.

Her body will be kept at her private residence in Dhawal Deep Building near Jantar Mantar Road in Delhi till 11 am on Wednesday (August 7) where people can pay their last respects.

At 12 noon, the mortal remains will be brought to the BJP headquarters on DDU Marg where all the senior leaders of the party will pay their last respects. The funeral will be held at 3 pm at the Lodhi Road crematorium in Delhi.

Former external affairs minister Sushma did not contest the 2019 Lok Sabha election. She chose to sit out of the government this year on account of her health.

A four-time member of Lok Sabha and three-time MP of Rajya Sabha, she did not contest in 2019 poll citing her bad health.

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony in May, Sushma wrote an emotional message on Twitter, thanking PM Modi for giving her the opportunity to hold the office for five years.

In the tweet, Sushma wrote, "Prime Minister, you gave me an opportunity to serve our countrymen and overseas Indians as the Foreign Minister for five years and personally, also, gave me respect throughout my tenure. I am very grateful to you. I pray that our government becomes very successful."

She was active till her last breath and her last tweet came on Tuesday after Parliament passed the Bill to reorganise Jammu and Kashmir and resolution to repeal Article 370, that granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Before she passed away at AIIMS Delhi she took to twitter and wrote, "Thank you Prime Minister. Thank you very much. I was waiting to see this day in my lifetime."
