A video has surfaced online, which shows that the Muslim victim was hackled by one man, contrary to his claim that four men attacked him.
Moreover, media reports suggest that no one removed the victim's skull cap and also no one tore his clothes.
The 25-year-old youth Muslim man has claimed that he was allegedly assaulted in Gurugram by four unidentified youths for wearing traditional Muslim skull cap on Sunday.
The victim was identified as Mohamad Barker Alam, a Bihar native, living here in Jakob Pura area of Gurugram.
According to the reports, video footage shows that there was a scuffle between the accused and victim, during which Alam's skull cap fell down, he picked it and put it in his pocket. The media reports also claimed that the accused was seen hitting Alam with a wooden stick after which he fell down.
"We have received a complaint about the incident and registered an FIR under sections 153, 147, 149, 323 and 506 in the city police station. We have also conducted a medical examination of the victim," said Gurgaon City ACP Rajiv Kumar told to media.
What victim has claimed
According to the FIR, Alam has alleged that four unidentified youths accosted him at the Sadar Bazar lane and objected to him wearing the skull cap. He also told the police that the miscreants threatened him and said wearing cap was not allowed in the area. They removed Alam's cap and slapped him and also asked him to chant “Bharat Mata ki Jai”. When he refused, the accused people picked up a wooden sticks and started thrashing him.
