Google recently came out and apologised to India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Google Gemini controversy. All this started when someone asked a query about PM Modi on Gemini and the AI called Narendra Modi ‘fascist’. Google CEO Sundar Pichai came forward and apologized and called the mistake "completely unacceptable" and the AI unreliable and sworn to fix the issue.

The government has cracked down on tech companies and asked them to ask for approval before launching any AI in India. Also said to implement a “consent popup” for the users and let them know that the AI is under trial and unreliable. IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said, “Nobody can escape accountability by apologising later”.

The search engine giant got a lot of scrutiny and hate online and the government asked the company for a clarification over this serious matter. Gemini, Google’s AI, has already been accused of many things like racial bias and historical inaccuracies. It’s also accused of denying generating images of historical white people.

In response to all the allegations, Google has stopped the human image generation on the AI platform for now and is trying to save itself from further controversies. Many people are also asking for Sundar Pichai to be replaced. They believe that there should be some change in the leadership and that someone else more responsible should lead the company out of this mess and ensure better management in the future.

Due to this, the government also released an advisory for all the tech companies, asking them to label their AI unreliable if it is in the trial phase. Also advised to use a “consent popup” informing the user about the unreliability of the AI and data user privacy.
