During Delhi’s 2024 budget session, Atishi Marlena, the Minister of Education, announced the launch of the Mahila Samman Yojana by the Kejriwal government. This initiative aims to provide a monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000 to women aged 18 and above in Delhi.  

Eligibility

If you wish to avail the benefits under this scheme, read the following requirements:

•    To be eligible for this scheme, women must be above 18 years of age and residents of Delhi. 
•    They must possess either a Aadhaar card or voter ID card with a permanent Delhi address.

Who cannot apply

Delhi women who will not be able to avail the benefits:

•    Women who are employed in government positions or are recipients of government pensions will not be able to avail the benefits under this scheme. Moreover, women who pay their income taxes will not receive the Rs 1,000 benefit from the government. 

Punjab’s model

Aam Aadmi Party initially implemented this scheme in Punjab. Following the same model, the scheme has been introduced in Delhi. Reports suggest that there is no requirement to fill out an online form for registration. Instead, applications will be accepted offline at designated offices.

Atishi Marlena made the announcement of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana while emphasizing certain points. She highlighted the significance of improving women’s social status. The purpose of the scheme is to dignify the poor women in Delhi who face financial hardships. She mentioned how the government is dedicated to help women while providing financial assistance.
