Dehradun: A class 7 student of a famous school was beaten to death by senior students with cricket bats and wickets for allegedly stealing biscuits. Sadly, the school administration buried the body inside the premises in an attempt to hush up the matter. The deceased has been identified as Vasu Yadav.

According to the police, the accused have been detained and the cops have arrested the school manager, warden and physical training teacher after registering the case under IPC section 302 (punishment for murder).

"The boy was beaten up with cricket bats and stumps by his seniors and was tortured for hours. Doctors at a hospital declared him brought dead. Once the matter came to light, the police immediately arrested three people, including the school manager, warden, physical training teacher, and detained two kids," said Dehradun senior superintendent of police Nivedita Kukreti.

On the other side, Uttarakhand state commission for protection of child rights claimed that possible attempts were made to divert attention from the gory incident.

"The incident took place on March 10 and we were informed about it on March 11, following which we visited the school. However, when we got there, we found that the school administration had buried the body. They didn't even bother to inform the parents, who live in Hapur, that their child had died," a member of the commission said.

According to the local police, some students of Children's Academy near Rishikesh went for an outing and 12-year-old Vasu Yadav allegedly stole a packet of biscuits from a shop. Once Yadav was caught, the shopkeeper reported the matter to the school administration following which, the students were banned from leaving the campus. Unhappy with this, the accused thrashed Vasu Yadav with cricket bats and wickets.

According to the allegation, the school administration, instead of informing the local police about the incident, helped the accused and buried the body of the victim inside the school campus.
