New Delhi: Even though the Elections are over and the results are out, attack on BJP cadre seems to have no end. In the first such case after the Verdict 2019, a 22-year-old BJP worker has been shot dead allegedly by the ruling Trinamool Congress cadre in the state. The incident has occurred in Chakdah area of Bengal.

After Mamata's 'inch by inch' threat

What's significant is just days ago Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee vowed revenge. Mamata had threatened during the election campaigning, "I will remember everything. The atrocities and humiliations heaped on my state, and I will not go unpunished. I have all the records and documents with me. I will take revenge for what is being done to me inch by inch. All those who are perpetrating the offence should remember this".

While addressing a public rally during Election in Basirhat Lok Sabha constituency, PM Modi had reminded the crowd how Mamata had publicly announced that she would seek revenge against the BJP "inch by inch". The BJP cadre's alleged murder has assumed new significance in light of the statement by the Bengal chief minister.

BJP is angry

The victim is identified as Santu Ghosh. Ghosh was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to injuries. BJP Bengal in a tweet accused," Even if Election is over, there's no respite from violence perpetrated by TMC..." BJP's Bengal in charge Kailash Vijayvargiya took to Twitter to accuse TMC of the death of Ghosha and said, "People will reply to this violence by uprooting you".

In the recently announced result, Bengal had made a huge dent to the ruling BJP where it got 18 seats, which is 16 more than it's 2014 tally when it just got 2. TMC's score came down from 34 to 21, leaving the ruling party embarrassed and had to call an emergency meeting on Saturday. Many of its star candidates like Moon Moon Sen and former rail minister Dinesh Trivedi were defeated in their turf by the saffron party.
