Lucknow: With 536 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours the tally has mounted to 12,616 in Uttar Pradesh. But in good news, the number of recovered cases is higher than the active cases in the state. 7609 patients have recovered and were discharged from hospitals in different districts of the state.

The state government has claimed that the recovery rate has improved and now the recovery rate has touched 60.1%, which is the highest among other coronavirus infected states in the country.

According to the state government, the number of active cases has gone down and now only 4642 active cases are left with these patients undergoing treatment in hospitals. However, 365 patients have died from the infection until now.

The government cited the health department in talking about its enhanced testing capacity, stating it has improved by 60 times since the inception of the corona infection in the state. The government tested 15607 samples only on Thursday, which has improved as of now in the state.

Principal secretary of the health department stated that UP will be able to conduct tests on 20,000 samples in a single day, adding that by the end of June there would be tests conducted on 4.2 lakh samples in the state. Prasad said 4,445 COVID-19 patients are placed in isolation wards, while 7,897 are in quarantine facilities in different hospitals and care centres.
