Vijayapura: Congress leader Reshman Padeknur's body was found under a bridge, built across Krishna River, on May 17. Currently, a probe is underway and her husband has filed a complaint against AIMIM leader Taufiq in this regard.

Reports claimed that she was seen with Taufiq Ismail Shaikh, hours before her body was found under the Kolhar bridge.

Two teams under the leadership of Maheshwar Gowda, DySP of Basavanabagewari and Ashok, DySP of Vijayapura have been formed to investigate Reshma's murder.

Reshma's husband Khaja Bande Nawaz has filed a case against Solapur MLA of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party leader Taufiq from Solapur.

Reports claim that Reshma was involved in financial business with Taufiq. According to the complaint, Taufiq had to give Rs 13 lakh to Reshma. This had led to a fight and both Reshma and Taufiq had filed cases against each other in Solapur police station.

However, Taufiq is said to have visited Vijayapura and had called Reshma at 12 midnight, Thursday. Reshma had left the house telling the family that she will be back after speaking about the money.

Reshma's husband has alleged that Taufiq has killed his wife, and to destroy any proof, threw her body under Kolhar bridge on Krishna River.

Prime facie, the police also suspect that the murder has been committed somewhere else and the body was thrown under the bridge much latter. They are waiting for the post-mortem report to get clarity on the issue.

It can also be noted that some years ago, Taufiq's wife had a fight with Reshma and it was alleged that the both had an affair. But the matter was sorted out of court.

In 2013, Reshma had served as the JD(S) women's wing president and had contested from Devara Hipparggi constituency. But she lost the election and just before May 2018 assembly elections, she had quit JD(S) and joined Congress.
