New Delhi: AP Abdullakutty, who was expelled from the Congress in Kerala on June 3, recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on June 24. Abdullakutty was dismissed from the party for praising PM Modi.

Earlier, Abdullakutty had taken to Facebook to say, “The political scene is undergoing a change. From now, victory will be for people who go with the development agenda.”

The post also said, “Our politics is changing completely. Victory is with development. When Modi is criticised, these facts should be remembered.”

This apart, Abdullakutty, in the post, added, "Mahatma Gandhi had told social workers that when you formulate a policy, you should remember the face of a poor man whom you have met. Modi implemented it accurately.”

After Abdullakutty was expelled from the party, he stated that the Congress initially accepted him into their fold after he was expelled from the CPI(M) for praising Modi. However, Congress's Kerala unit has now expelled him for doing the same. He also iterated that his Facebook post also heaped praises on Mahatma Gandhi, “which has not been talked about”.

According to sources, Abdullakutty will be meeting Amit Shah and will mostly be joining the BJP today itself.

CPI(M) leader and Kannur district secretary MV Jayarajan had earlier mocked Abdullakutty by saying that he is waiting to join the BJP.  K Muraleedharan, senior Congress leader said that any party worker praising PM Modi would not be accepted and that it was wrong.

In March 2009, Abdullakutty was dismissed from the CPI(M) for praising Modi, who was the then the chief minister of Gujarat. He had also praised Sheila Dixit, the then Delhi CM, for the “progress they had brought about in their states”.
