Bengaluru: A day after Jaya Bachchan sprang to the defence of Bollywood, urging everyone to not paint the entire filmdom with a single brush, the Congress has jumped into the fray.

Extending its support to Jaya, the grand old party asked Ravi Kishan and Kangana Ranaut to learn from Jaya and other senior actresses like Hema Malini.

It was Congress’s Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha who put out this message on Twitter.

“#JayaBachchan and #HemaMalini 2 veteran dignified voices of #Bollywood. Actors like #RaviKishan or #KanganaRanaut must learn fr them. Good & bad ppl in all professions & vocations. #TRP media disease infects all : up start ism the rule of the day. A new leadership norm.”

On Tuesday, Jaya had made this statement. She had said, “People in the entertainment industry are being flogged by social media. People who made their names in the industry have called it a gutter. I completely disagree. I hope that the government tells such people not to use this kind of language.”

Reacting to her statement, Kangana Ranaut said, “Jaya ji would you say the same thing if in my place it was your daughter Shweta beaten, drugged and molested as a teenager, would you say the same thing if Abhieshek complained about bullying and harassment constantly and found hanging one day? Show compassion for us also.”

"Drug addiction is in the film industry too. Several people have been apprehended. The NCB has been doing very good work. I urge the central government to take strict action against the culprits soon. Give them a befitting punishment and bring an end to this conspiracy by neighbouring countries," Ravi Kishan had said in Lok Sabha.
