Thiruvananthapuram: Koduvally municipality councillor Majeed has come forward alleging that RMP leader TP Chandrasekharan murder case accused NK Sunil Kumar alias Kodi Suni, who is serving life imprisonment, had threatened him to purchase illegal gold. Majeed, who is apparently in Qatar, has registered a complaint regarding the matter to the Indian Embassy. 

Majeed owns a jewellery shop in Doha and he is an Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) worker. In the statement to Qatar Police, he said that he received several calls from Kodi Suni from the Kerala prison asking him to buy gold from his friend without any documents. 

Majeed first received the call on May 20 from Kodi Suni telling him to purchase gold worth of Rs 48 lakh from his friend. Later, he received a call from the same person, who told him to buy gold without documents.

When Majeed insisted on buying gold legally with sufficient documents, Kodi Suni called and threatened him of dire consequences. Majeed's wife, who stays in Kerala, also has contacted the police for protecting her husband from Kodi Suni. 

Kodi Suni was found guilty in the murder case of TP Chandrasekharan and was awarded life imprisonment. RMP leader Chandrasekharan was hacked to death on May 4, 2012. He has been serving jail term since 7 years.

Earlier,  Kodi Suni, who was on parole, was arrested on February 14 by Koothuparamba Police for the alleged abduction and attack of a youth. According to the police report, the incident occurred on January 13. Suni and a team of people reportedly abducted Rafshan. The team took the youth to a resort in Wayanad, snatched his mobile and robbed him of Rs 16,000. 

Nine persons have been accused in the case including Kodi Suni. Four were arrested earlier.
