Bengaluru: A new central university will be set up in Leh, as announced by Nirmala Sitharaman.

She made this announcement during her presentation of the Union budget.

Such a decision by the Union government will go a long way in solving many problems of the region.

It should be noted that the people of this region had made it public that they are in need of quality education. They had expressed this desire in the aftermath of the abrogation of article 370.

The worries for these people stemmed from the fact that students of this region had to migrate to other parts of the country in search of good and quality education.

Setting up of a central university will help the students remain in the region and help talents contribute more to the region.

And it is not just a central university in Ladakh. The centre will also start 100 Sainik schools all over the country.

These schools are well-known for helping students desirous of joining the armed forces by inculcating values like patriotism inter alia.

Other highlights of Union Budget 2021:

This is the first budget that was presented paperless.

The budget proposes to double the spending in health sector.
It hopes to boost urban infrastructure by improving public transport like buses and metros.

As regards axing the tax, the budget has made no changes in the existing tax slabs, but has proposed to levy no taxes on pensioners who are 75+ and have no other sources of income.

Atmanirbhar Bharat:

The budget has Atmanirbhar Bharat at its core. Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made this announcement, as per which, he hopes India becomes self-reliant and goes on to become the manufacturing hub of the world.

India has also exported several lakh doses of vaccine to countries like Sri Lanka, Bhutan and even Pakistan.
