Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar along with Shiv Sena held a joint press briefing and said that all MLAs except for Ajit Pawar are in support of Shiv Sena and NCP alliance. He said that action will be taken against Ajit Pawar.
Mumbai: At the joint meeting of Shiv Sena and NCP that was called following Devendra Fadnavis forming the government, Sharad Pawar said that a true NCP member will never join hands with the BJP. None of the MLAs from NCP except for Ajit Pawar took part in the swearing in ceremony, he added.
Sharad Pawar said that he would take action against NCP leader Ajit Pawar who supported BJP in forming the government. "The Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance is intact. All the MLAs have extended their support to this alliance," Sharad Pawar said.
Ajit Pawar held the post of leader of the party's legislative Assembly. As action is being initiated against him a new person for the post will be elected at 4 pm, said NCP.
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut slammed BJP and Ajit Pawar and said that swearing in of Fadnavis as CM and Ajit Pawar A’s deputy CM is an insult to the people of Maharashtra.
Devendra Fadnavis of the BJP formed the government in Maharashtra this morning after NCP's Ajit Pawar showed his support. It is said that 30 of NCP's MLAs have signed the letter to support BJP.
This came as a shocker to Congress-NCP-Shiv Sena alliance that was supposed to finalise on government formation in Maharashtra.
Ajit Pawar did not see eye to eye on many issues yesterday (November 22) during the meeting. He took part in NCP, Shiv Sena and Congress meeting and did not give any hint about this alliance with the BJP," said Raut had said earlier.
Earlier, speaking on behalf of the BJP, Shweta Shalini, spokesperson of the party, said that the BJP had to take this step to ensure that Maharashtra's development and growth rate is not affected. Maharashtra has to reach 1 trillion economy, she said.
BJP has respected the mandate of the people by coming back to power. The government will be led the same way it was 5 years ago. It was important to come back to power so that development and growth rate are taken care of. We have not compromised on any stance," she said.
She slammed the Shiv Sena for breaking away from the BJP and said that it is the party that has compromised on Hindutva and ideals of Chatrapati Shivaji.
