Assam:Considering the severe flood situation in Assam, several celebrities have started to spread awareness about the situation and have even started making contributions towards relief funds in the state.

While Bollywood celebrities Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra Jonas took to Twitter to express their concern and create awareness, other celebrities in the industry took to Instagram to share pictures and videos. The sprinter Hima Das shared pictures and appealed to big corporates and companies to donate towards the Assam chief minister’s relief funds as well.

The global icon, Priyanka Chopra Jonas tweeted, “Extremely devasted by all the news coming in from #Assam and other parts of India. It’s heartbreaking to read about the displacement and loss of life. My prayers with those affected. Please donate at https://cm.assam.gov.in/relieffund.php and https://donate.oxfamindia.org/assam-floods-2018 …”

While Akshay Kumar tweeted about how the people, animals and everything that was affected by the floods, need support, he also stated the generous donation he would like to make towards the natural disaster hit region.

He stated, “Absolutely heartbreaking to know about the devastation by floods in Assam. All affected, humans or animals, deserve support in this hour of crisis. I’d like to donate 1cr each to the CM Relief Fund & for Kaziranga Park rescue. Appealing to all to contribute @CMOfficeAssam @kaziranga_”

Assam-based athlete Hima Das shared a glimpse of her flood-affected neighbourhood and showcased the severity by stating that 30 out of 33 districts in the state have been affected by the natural disaster. Donating half of her monthly salary, she said, “Flood situation in our state Assam is very critical, 30 out of 33 districts are currently affected. So I would like to request big corporates and individuals to kindly come forward and help our state in this difficult situation.”
 

Actress Shraddha Kapoor posted an Instagram story on how 90% of Kaziranga National is submerged. She asked her followers to donate to Wildlife Trust of India.
 

Model and actress Dia Mirza took to Instagram to share her concern regarding the flood scenario in Assam. With the hashtag Assamfloods, she posted a picture of officers and veterinary doctors trying to rescue and rehabilitate animals.
 

The Wildlife Trust of India has reposted all the celebrity initiative on their Instagram story and is seeking donations to fund their operations.

The online food delivery platform, Zomato has created a tab on their website and mobile app page for those who would like to help Assam flood victims.

Paytm has also provided its users Assam relief fund convenience where public can make donations directly to the Assam chief minister’s relief fund.
