Foreign envoys say people totally reject Pakistan's narrative on bloodbath in Jammu and Kashmir

16 foreign envoys and senior diplomats travelled to Srinagar on January 9 to assess the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The group was taken around Srinagar and met panchayat members and representatives of local bodies and NGOs. The group was accompanied by senior officials of the External Affairs Ministry. The countries that were part of the group were the US, Vietnam, South Korea, Brazil, Uzbekistan, Niger, Nigeria, Morroco, Guyana, Argentina, the Philippines, Norway, the Maldives, Fiji, Togo, Bangladesh and Peru. They praised the government for controlling the situation after the historic decision on August 5, and preventing bloodshed

Agreeably there were difficulties for people, but it was necessary to maintain order

Pakistan’s desperation and untiring efforts to spread terror now lie exposed

They blamed Pakistan for killings in Jammu and Kashmir and asked envoys to pressure Pakistan to refrain from interfering

They told envoys that people of Jammu and Kashmir will not surrender even an inch to Pakistan

Envoys witnessed total normalcy, open shops, traffic and people travelling through the streets of Srinagar
