#SareeTwitter: From politicians to actresses Indians make style statement

While a lot of women have shared their love for sarees over time, #sareetwitter took social media, especially Twitter, by storm on Monday when women flooded the social media platform with pictures of themselves in saree even until a minute ago.

From film actresses to journalists to politicians, #SareeTwitter was celebrated by women hailing from varied backgrounds.

Here are few of the pictures posted by prominent personalities for #SareeTwitter:

Priyanka Gandhi took to Twitter to share her memory from the morning puja that took place 22 years ago on the day of her wedding. While she shared her picture on the social media platform, a lot of her followers sent anniversary wishes. At the end, she thanked all of them but clarified that it was not the anniversary but a picture of her in a saree for the #sareetwitter trend online.

Actress Yami Gautam posted a picture of her in black saree saying, “I completely agree with this trend, nothing can match the elegance and beauty of a Saree! So sharing my most special saree moment 😁#SareeTwitter.” While she received a lot of appreciation for her look, one of her followers replied to her tweet with a GIF of the actress’ saree look in Vicky Donor.

Speaking of Vicky Donor, Vicky (Ayushmann Khurrana) took to Twitter to post a picture of him in a saree. While seated on a scooter in the picture, the actor looks like he is surprised at the sight of something. The highlight of it all are the green bangles that he has worn to match with the saree.

Her busy schedule did not stop her from being a part of the #SareeTwitter trend. IPS D Roopa posted a picture of herself on her Twitter handle said, “Joining the bandwagon, delayed though.. #SareeTwitter Saree, the elegant national dress.” The official joined the saree lovers club a little late, but made it in style nevertheless.

Red Chillies Entertainment posted pictures of three Bollywood divas in saree; Kajol Devgan, Sushmita Sen and Deepika Padukone from three movies. The film production house posted them saying, “The elegance and grace of sarees is unmatchable. ❤️Share your favourite saree look with us! #SareeTwitter Asking the followers to share their saree look with them, the film production house has encouraged interaction.

The Divya Spandana Fan Club made the actress’ presence felt by tweeting a picture of the actress saying, “Who would look better than her in Saree! @Divyaspandana swag!! #SareeTwitter #SandalwoodQueen.

While all these women took to Twitter to share their pictures in sarees, Bollywood divas’ fan clubs posted several images online on websites with the saree Twitter hashtag. Starting from Vidya Balan, who is seen at events often in a saree to Deepika Padukone who defines style in all dresses she dons.
