At the Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF) in Chandigarh, filmmaker Karan Johar disclosed intriguing details about his upcoming venture, 'Student of the Year 3'. The director shed light on his next cinematic endeavor, elucidating that the sequel to the popular franchise will see a digital release, directed by the talented Reema Maya, acclaimed for her work on the series 'Nocturnal Burger'.

During his presentation, Karan Johar underscored the significance of collaborating with emerging filmmakers and writers, using Reema Maya as a prime example. He emphasized the importance of allowing directors like Reema to express their creative vision authentically. Johar stated, "Reema Maya will helm the digital rendition of 'Student of the Year'. However, it will be her unique interpretation, distinct from mine. By immersing myself in Reema Maya's cinematic universe, I aim to foster genuine creativity rather than imposing my own style. It's imperative to preserve her distinct voice, as evident in her previous work."

Her cinematic prowess garnered recognition at prestigious film festivals, with her short film 'Counterfeit Kunkoo' earning accolades at the renowned Sundance Film Festival in 2018.

Regarding 'Student of the Year 3', it was previously announced that Shanaya Kapoor would headline the cast. While initially slated to debut in Dharma Productions' 'Bedhadak' alongside Laksh Lalwani and Gurfateh Pirzada, the project seems to have been put on hold. Subsequently, Kapoor was set to make her mark in the Malayalam film 'Vrushabha', featuring veteran actor Mohanlal, but alas, that too encountered cancellation.
